I'm Back Home

Well, the conference was a bust. I was hoping to learn so much, and basically the only answer I got when I would ask questions is "well in the coming up version . . . " So I got a little frustrated. I did meet alot of fun people. I met schedulers from Texas, Vancouver, New York, Alaska, and Montana. They were fun and it was nice to know that they had some of the same questions that I had. It was also fun to know that no matter where I go in the country there are others that I have things in common with. It makes me smile to think back on some of the laughs we had.

Coming home was great! It's so heartwarming to have a wonderful home and family to come back to. The kids and Sam took good care of each other. I did come home to a broken dishwasher, but here's a good teaching moment. (Hannah has never in her life had to do dishes by hand.) It has also given Hannah and I good talk time and that's something I am truly grateful for. I really like talking to my kids. They teach me things and hopefully as a mom they are gleaning some of the knowledge I think I have.

I was able to read a book while I was gone. It's called "A Thousand Splendid Suns". I had to read it for a book club that I'm in at work. It's about 2 women in Afganistan and their lives. After reading this, I feel so incredibly blessed to be where I am, in a free country. Their lives were hard and they went through so much. However in the end, I think the message of love and friendship was a beautiful one. I think it made me really reflect on how much I've been blessed with all of my life. I've always had supportive family and great friends as well as the Gospel of Jesus Christ to guide my life. I am truly grateful, and I'm so glad to be back home!!!

I am glad to see you joined the blogging community. If you want to be linked to the Relief Society blog, let me know. It is great to read about your family. Since I am no longer your visiting teacher - I feel like I don't know what is going on with your family. I am SO HAPPY for Maddie. I have always thought she is such a wonderful young lady. I will check back to keep up with you guys.

I loved that book. The author has another one that he wrote first--The Kite Runner--that is also excellent. I have a copy if you want to borrow it. :)
