Gratitude

We had Thanksgiving at my sister-in-laws this year.  It was good to be with extended family.  My family is one thing that I will always be grateful for.  We are a bunch of nuts, but hey mixed nuts are great!

This year my dad fell 2 days before Thanksgiving.  He has had problems for at least 8 months now with tremors in his leg.  While he and my mom were going to a chiropractor's office he caught his toe and his leg gave out.  He landed on his left side and really hurt his leg.  He hasn't been able to bare weight on that leg since.  So for Thanksgiving we had to get a wheelchair for him to use.  He is basically living in his basement for right now unless us kids go over and help him get out by lifting him in a chair.  It has been so hard to see him go down hill.

I went with mom and him to a new chiropractor today.  I think this guy knows what he is doing, but he also told them that he most likely wouldn't be able to help with the tremors.  That he could help them get his leg healed from the fall, but that once you have tremors that it is a great feat to get rid of the tremors.  So, he will continue to deteriorate, but we are hoping that they can buy him some time before he gets too bad.

I think we also need to remember to be grateful "in" all circumstances.  Right now I am so grateful that he isn't any worse.  I know that he and mom are going to have a hard time as it goes, but I hope that they remember this.

I am so grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ that helps me through tough times and reminds me that he has already suffered the things that we are now suffering.  How he must love us, and I am grateful!
